A Parametric Optimized Method for Three-Dimensional Corner Joints in Wooden Furniture

The three-dimensional corner joint is a type of in wooden furniture structures with complex parameter relationships and many constraints. Traditional structure design requires repeated modifications geometric models to determine dimensions, which inefficient challenging severely impacts the development digital manufacture process. Based on ideal value range mortise–tenon joints, this study derived parametric optimized method joints refined theoretical at least four main parameters: width beneficial mortise (B2), depth cede (C1), margin thickness from tenon rail1 reference edge (bt1), rail2 (bt2). With case verification, results show that axial direction tenon, maxC1 decreased by 5.4 mm combination B2,C1 reduced 23 kinds. In cases different post widths rail2’s post’s (Btm2), quantity bt2 were narrowed various degrees. available values (bt1) decrease decreasing (Btm1) when Btm1 less than constant z. can effectively reduce dimensional range, both theoretically practically, more ranges be obtained setting standard values. This also provides ideas for standardized structures.
